An R&D Engineer solves engineering problems, develops new products and processes, and leads engineering projects for a range of medical devices. An R&D Engineer works with minimal supervision to lead entire projects and/or portions of highly complicated projects.


• Develop new products as a member of the Engineering department following 21CFR and ISO standards
• Utilize engineering knowledge and technical expertise to create new designs from components through finished devices
• Conceive new manufacturing processes and implements into manufacturing
• Complete projects consistent with corporate and departmental objectives by engaging the efforts of other engineering, manufacturing,
regulatory, quality assurance, and marketing staff
• Contribute to the intellectual property of the company via invention disclosures and patent applications
• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and manufacturing processes consistent with the
requirements of pertinent regulations and Cook’s Quality Management System

• Maintain and increase technical, medical and biomedical development knowledge related to the company’s product lines
• Maintain accurate and timely reports and records
• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization to achieve company goals
• Must strictly adhere to safety requirements
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Must maintain company quality and quantity standards
• Must have effective oral and written communications throughout various
levels of the global organization
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision
• Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations


• BS in Engineering (Biomedical, chemical, electrical, mechanical) 
with three-five years of relevant industry experience; or
• MS or PhD in Engineering with 3 years of experience 
• Experience using analytic skills and problem solving
• Experience in communication and working with a wide variety of


Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel 25% of the time

• Approximately 75% of the time is spent in a normal office environment requiring sitting and moving around the building, or in a "clean" environment Production setting requiring protective clothing and safety glasses

• Approximately 25% of the time is spent in travel to various hospitals, physicians’ offices and public places
