Overview

The R&D Manager will be responsible for guiding a development team in the creation of new product lines and improvements to exsisting product lines. This team will support the vascular division and could include a range of potential medical devices including but not limited to vascular sheaths, wire guides, implant delivery systems, and other inteventional radiology related devices.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

• Mentor, coach and development of team
• Fosters relationships and collaborate with other functional stakeholders
• Manage schedule, costs/budget and resources for project(s) assigned
• Actively engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOL’s), physicians and product managers to ensure user needs are appropriately addressed
• Ensure team/teams deliver quality designs in a timely manner
• Technical responsibility for all R&D activities on team projects
• Collaborate with vendors and strategic partners for product development and component/subassembly supply
• Maintain and improve high standard of medical device engineering
• Manage the development of the IP portfolio
• Works with other leaders to ensure sharing of R&D best practice
• Foster and maintain a workplace culture that is respectful and supportive of individual differences

• Facilitate and contribute to high level problem solving and product design
• Ensure effective communication of project progress and risks to all relevant stakeholders
• Must work and interact effective and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization
• Must strictly adhere to safety requirements
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Must maintain company ethical, quality and quantity standards
• Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; Engineering or Science discipline
• Min 7 years’ experience with at least 3 years gained in roles involving team leadership
• Proven project management, and technical communication skills
• Must have demonstrated ability to develop products from concepts through to commercialisation

• Good mechanical design, materials aptitude and understanding of engineering fundamentals
• Good working knowledge of medical device quality & regulatory systems and medical device directives (ISO 13485 and FDA CFR 820)

 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations

• Willingness and availability to travel on company business (Approx 10%)
