The Compensation Specialist at Cook Shared Services conducts analysis on internal and external salary statistics and recommends, develops, and implements appropriate employee compensation structures and policies to be responsive to the company's goals and competitive practices. This position also partners with Human Resources to design and evaluate adjustments to salary structures for compensation programs and to remain competitive in the marketplace.


• Ensure compliance of all compensation programs with federal and state
regulations; conduct periodic audits of salaries to identify any potential
problems or non-compliance issues. Conduct audits and perform cyclical
• Provide input on policy and guideline interpretation, job evaluation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related
• Create tools and training to aid HR on individual or group compensation actions
• Advise HR on compensation actions for employees using established structures and guidelines
• Evaluate positions using established evaluation systems and approve
FLSA classifications and provide risk assessments
• Perform benefit plan audits. Prepare, collect and organize data for actuarial assessments

• Manage compensation and employee data and reports using HRIS system and market data tools
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information
• Monitor of demographics as it relates to compensation
• Prepare and present statistical reports and incentive plan
accruals as needed
• Aid in the completion of regulatory compliance reports such as EEO-1
reports and participate in external audits
• Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and
independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision


• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Finance or comparable experience
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar role with specific experience in compensation and /or benefits management

• Understanding of EEO categories and understanding of Affirmative Action requirements, especially as it relates to government contractors

• Knowledge of government regulations, as they apply to compensation base and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations including Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal laws regulating employee benefits, compensation and privacy standards
• Advanced Excel skills and proficient in other Microsoft Office tools
