The primary purpose of the Senior Manager Engineering at Cook Vandergrift is to implement and lead innovative Engineering Projects and Continuous Improvement throughout the Engineering function. This key leadership role will craft our Engineering strategy and manage day-to-day operations and provides leadership and direction to the functional team. This role will be a key change agent and will focus on eliminating barriers to implementing change.


• Serve as mentor and resource for others in Engineering as well as to other departments
• Represent Engineering at interdepartmental meetings/activities
• Helps refine and implement Engineering practices/procedures
• Ensure Design Control & Transfer are adhered to Manufacturing procedures
• Perform duties of Engineering including project management
• Design new process ideas as assigned
• Build and test new products and process prototypes
• Initiate and oversee the pre-production run of new products
• Plan the ongoing production of the product
• Lead Project Portfolio promoting significant cost savings
• Support Manufacturing with Cook Incorporated activities and improvements
• Implement policies, programs and directives of senior management
• Interview, select and approve all training for employees

• Make recommendations for staff and equipment and have significant input into personnel matters
• Must maintain all training requirements for the position, while seeking out opportunities for continuous development and growth
• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation consistent with the requirements of pertinent regulations and Cook’s Quality Management System where applicable


• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable background
• Minimum 4 years engineering experience in the medical field and/or 5 years engineering experience with Cook Medical
• Experience and understanding of the validation process
• Proven project leadership skills

• Completion of a major development project involving all aspects of process development


Physical Requirements:

• Approximately 75% of the time is spent in normal office environment requiring sitting/moving around the building, or in a "clean" environment product setting requiring protective clothing/safety glasses
• Approximately 25% of the time is spent in travel to various hospitals, physician's offices and public places

• Good manual dexterity
• Limited exposure to hazardous materials requiring protective covering
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under ADA
