Overview

The Buyer position at Cook Incorporated is responsible for the day to day procurement operations of an assigned entity (site) and for an assigned category (or categories) including all Procurement and Supplier Management responsibilities in alignment with the Global Category Management team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the day to day procurement activities are executed in line with category guidance, and in compliance with relevant global policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures
• Collaborate with approved suppliers globally and locally
• Actively participate within a Cross Functional team to understand business requirements and execute based on procurement process
• Collaborate with the Category Management teams and escalate entity supply issues as required
• Must be able to execute the procurement requirements as defined by the business keeping stakeholders top of mind
• May support contracting activities; review master agreements, statements of work, change orders, or similar documents as directed by the category team or site leadership
• Must identify and deliver on site specific savings objectives and other annual objectives as defined

• Communicate entity level procurement requirements to the Category Management team
• Ensure that supply is protected to support manufacturing operations
• Participate in supply related matters to assist in corrective action
• Work with procurement/category management to ensure that supplier change requests are prioritized; must work in close collaboration with supplier quality engineering and supplier engineering to drive closure on a timely basis
• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or the equivalent preferred
• 2-4 years in procurement or supply chain as a buyer
• Must be knowledgeable of procurement systems, tools, policies and procedures
• Both Direct and Indirect Procurement experience a plus

• Demonstrated understanding of negotiations, driving cost reduction strategies and day to day procurement operations
• CPSM or CPM or other certification desired
• Understand basics of demand planning and inventory management
• Proficiency in communication skills

 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be willing to manage within an organization undergoing change
• Must be able to work in a global structure while supporting the assigned entity
• Willing to travel 25% of the time
