The Database Administrator (DBA) at Cook Myosite Inc. is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and administering Database solutions to meet the operational requirements of the company.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement, upgrade, and support databases ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability.

• Support production databases associated with vendor provided COTS applications.

• Collaborate with IT, architects, system analysts, business analysts, and departmental system owners to understand business and industry requirements for database implementation and production support.

• Develop data models for applications, metadata tables, views or related database structures.

• Set up and maintain database clusters, load balancing configurations, along with backup and recovery processes.

• For new databases or updates to existing databases, author specification documents, using accepted notations, which describe server and database architectures along with database schemas and commissioning documents (i.e. performance tests, security tests, data migration tests, etc.).

• Executes commissioning; supports computer system validation team’s installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), and performance qualification (PQ) activities as needed.

• Support data migration by development of ETL scripting (i.e. shell + SQL) and by using tools such as SSIS.

• To enhance database performance, monitor and report resource consumption, create/modify indexes, propose hardware enhancements.

• To demonstrate security and data integrity, periodically audit and report on data access and consistency of company’s databases.

• Creates and reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials; conducts training for SOPs.

• Practices and stays current with ISPE GAMP best practices, FDA GxP regulations, and applicable ISO standards.

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; obtaining technology certifications.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Systems, Business Administration, or 6 years direct, relevant experience in development, delivery, and support of enterprise-wide databases and database servers to provide a comparable background.

• Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in performing data/systems analysis preferred

• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working with databases (Microsoft SQL preferred) preferred

• Skilled in writing Structured Query Language (SQL).

• Skilled in SQL Server Administration.

• Desire to be certified or possess certification as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Database Administration, and/or Database Development.

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office, specifically, advanced knowledge of Project, Adobe, OneNote, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.

• Basic understanding of cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and related regulations associated with Bio/Pharmaceutical product manufacturing preferred

• Up-to-date with changes in technology and the business implications/applications of new technologies preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

• Office Setting / No Travel

• Ability to conduct and hear ordinary conversation and telephone communication.

• Must be able to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended work hours and/or extra work hours, sometimes on short notice as required.

• Ability to work under specific time constraints.

• Must be able to sit at desk, in meetings and/or work on a computer for long or extended periods of time.

• Visual and manual acuity for working with computers and equipment.
