The Manager in the New Ventures team is responsible for providing leadership and direction for a sub-team in a key technology area(s), understanding future market needs and evaluating and identifying innovative technology for patients and customers that drive future growth for Cook Medical. They will manage day to day activities, provide leadership and direction, and prioritize team efforts in support of the New Ventures goals and objectives. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in material surface interfaces/coatings and materials research and technology with prior experience in the medical device industry demonstrating superior leadership and project management skills.


  • Ensure that adequate resources are available to support team initiatives and are coordinated within New Ventures and with global stakeholders.
  • Ensure the team understands future markets and assist in development of technology roadmaps to support Cook needs
  • Develop and manage assigned processes (e.g., strategic assessment, research focus areas, etc.)
  • Create project proposals
  • Coordinate with Cook stakeholders to complete projects
  • Ensure team operates within budget and proposed time lines
  • Provide leadership to establish and maintain robust work environment
  • Mentor and develop team members appropriate to their work
  • Ensure that an orderly, sanitary, and safe working environment is maintained
  • Implement policies, programs and directives of senior management
  • Interview, select and manage performance of employee
  • Make recommendations for staff and equipment and have
  • input into personnel matters
  • Foster and maintain a workplace culture respectful and supportive of individual differences
  • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization

  • Minimum 4-year degree required in Engineering, Science, or Business
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the medical device field
  • Minimum 5 years research and development, product, and/or project management experience
  • Sound administrative skills and well-developed management skills
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of human anatomy, medical science and risk management
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Majority of work is performed in a normal office environment
  • Ability to travel to interact with R&D teams, researchers, business partners and healthcare providers
