  • Overview

    MED Institute Inc. is accepting applications for a Mechanical/Biomedical Engineer to be responsible for medical product development at various stages of the development process and in accordance with design control requirements. The scope of research and development work will include but not be limited to concept generation, testing and evaluation of medical devices, solving complex engineering problems, design and development of devices and device components through established processes, and completion of these activities with the highest level of professionalism and quality.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    This position requires a technically sound engineer capable of driving a project to completion with minimal supervision. A qualified candidate should be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of first principles, build a design from the ground up, perform independent research utilizing all available tools and resources, communicate well with customers, maintain good documentation practices, and develop and validate new test methods. Examples of commonly performed tests include accelerated fatigue, corrosion, electrosurgical, simulative use, and others that are used to evaluate material properties and/or functionality of a finished medical device.  In addition, this person will be responsible for the maintenance of well-controlled documentation, including written protocols and reports, data forms, and laboratory notebooks.

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    • BS in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred;
    • 1-3 years of experience;
    • Previous experience in medical product development and medical device design controls is highly desirable;
    • Understanding of mechanical/biomedical engineering practices;
    • Ability to effectively employ analytical skills and solve problems;
    • Able to work with a project team to develop medical products in a timely manner according to company design control procedures;
    • Able to communicate and work constructively with management and colleagues to establish and achieve mutual goals;
    • Excellent project leadership skills;
    • Ability to adapt to multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities;
    • Good written and verbal communication skills;
    • Good interpersonal skills; and
    • Able to work with multiple persons in a team environment.
