  • Overview

    The Corporate Librarian at Cook Research Incorporated will support a patient-centered organization through involvement in research, delivering library training, and providing assistance for the development and sustaining efforts of medical devices. This position will also contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the Cook Library by:  ensuring user friendly access to the library database, cataloging scientific resources, writing and utilizing library policies and procedures, conducting literature research for various scientists and project managers, and building and maintaining relationships with vendors and customers.


    • Establish and maintain library policies and procedures that are aligned with Cook Research Incorporated’s business policies and U.S. copyright law
    • Train employees on various databases and copyright compliance
    • Research, identify and if necessary acquire online research resources (e.g. contracts with publishers)
    • Assist in the development of appropriate and relevant search strategies and in some cases conduct the research
    • Provide scientific literature to Cook companies for project support in a manner compliant with copyright policies
    • Maintain contact with project managers to ensure each project has the necessary literature updates to remain current
    • Develop and maintain relationships with Cook colleagues requiring assistance from the library
    • Maintain and improve the design, organization and cataloging of the Cook electronic library with appropriate documentation.


    • Minimum of a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent experience
    • Science, medical or health background and/or instructional design background preferred
    • Ability to listen and tactfully conduct a reference interview
    • Knowledge of library database management
    • Experience in navigating the appropriate technical databases and search engines to meet the needs of customers
    • Excellent organizational skills and prioritizing skills
    • Extreme attention to detail
    • Ability to efficiently support multiple persons and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including good grammar and spelling
    • Competence with Microsoft Office suite
    • Experience in basic office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, computer, scanners, printers, phone systems, etc.)
    • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.  Cook does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
