  • Overview

    The Supplier Account Manager is responsible for the procurement of quality materials which meet our quality standards and for the development and management of influential senior level relationships within our supplier networks and the Cook organization.    


    • Develop and negotiate proposals to generate new cost-effective procurement opportunities with our suppliers
    • Provide strategic direction for optimal use of contract resources to maximize profitability
    • Conduct senior level business reviews with supplier customers
    • Integrate strategic processes with Cook functions - engineering, finance, quality, business units and regulatory affairs
    • Participate in staff meetings to develop and align strategic initiatives
    • Develop and maintain senior-level business relationships with both our suppliers and our key functional areas inside the Cook organization
    • Develop and maintain working knowledge of the clinical and business aspects of the organization.
    • Research, recommend and participate in the qualification process of new and/or alternative suppliers
    • Assist purchasing management with related purchasing functions

    • Travel to suppliers, trade shows and for training as necessary
    • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization
    • Must strictly adhere to safety requirements
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
    • Must maintain company quality and quantity standards
    • Must have effective oral, written and communication skills
    • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations/environments with minimal supervision
    • Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations
    • Experience at solving complex problems and forming simple solutions


    • Bachelor's degree in a related field required, MBA preferred; or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable
    • Excellent working knowledge of procurement services, Cook quality standards and contract negotiations

    • Minimum 10 years experience in procurement, sales management,
    marketing, corporate or national accounts experience preferred
    • Business software experience, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Business Objects
    • Experience in professional development of plans, proposals, negotiation, and executive presentations



    Physical Requirements:

    • Travel up to 20% per year or as needed

    • Work under general office environmental conditions
