  • Overview

    The Storage and Backup Administrator Specialist is responsible for designing, maintaining and administrating production and development data storage and backup systems in a 24/7 data center.   This position is part of the Infrastructure Datacenter Operations team which supports the global production and manufacturing servers for Cook companies.


    • Maintain and expand the existing storage and backup strategies and infrastructure
    • Maintain audit and integrity requirements for backups and restores
    • Maintain and evolve the Disaster Recovery planning, testing and response for the enterprises
    • Administer a large complex site alone or/and assist in the administration of a larger site/additional sites
    • Assist novice system administrators and/or operators
    • Evaluate and/or recommend purchases; has strong influence on purchasing process
    • Provide liaison support for IT consulting companies and vendors as needed
    • Provide emergency on-call support for system or network issues and perform occasional after-hours/weekend maintenance updates to systems and servers

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related field, or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable background
    • 5+ years enterprise-class storage administrative experience (preferably NetApp and Pure)
    • Experience with storage technologies such as Cloud/iSCSI/Fiber hardware and protocols such as RAID, SIFS, NFS, ISCSI, SAN, NAS and DAS
    • 5+ years enterprise-class backup solutions experience (preferably CommVault)
    • Experience with backup technologies such as Disk-to-Disk, LTO and Cloud
    • Experience with enterprise class Linux and Windows servers
    • Advanced storage and backup troubleshooting experience with root cause analysis


    Physical Requirements:

    • Works under general office environment conditions
    • Sitting for extended periods, utilizing close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.
    • Periodic Travel 10-15%
    • Occasionally required to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch

    • Requires ability to work outside normal working hours to provide on-call support and occasional after-hours/weekend support
    • Requires occasional early morning or late evening teleconferences
