  • Overview

    The IT Systems Architect focuses on the research, design and implementation/enhancement of technologies, platforms and standards for Cook's Global IT function, resulting in enhanced value to business stakeholders. This position is part of IT Groundwork and will be working closely with the Enterprise Architects and IT Leadership.

    Responsibilities

    • Research potential technologies, tools, and solutions for Cook IT
    • Document and present research discovery to peers and Cook's Enterprise Architecture Team
    • Construct and document architectural models including system, data, and integration models for current and new solutions
    • Create training materials and conduct training for peers and other IT resources
    • Design and implement prototypes and present them to peers and IT stakeholders
    • Configure, implement, and document software or platforms for Cook IT
    • Perform data discovery and integration
    • Attend and participate in daily status meetings and daily planning and strategy meetings

    • Ability to turn business goals into an architecture/design that will support the proposed solution and to research and evaluate risk of potential solutions
    • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others to achieve company goals
    • Must strictly adhere to safety requirements
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
    • Must maintain company quality and quantity standards
    • Must have effective oral and written communications throughout various levels of the global organization
    • Ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision
    • Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations and adapt to changing priorities or project scope

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
    • 3-5 years of IT experience
    • Understanding of SCRUM methodology
    • Strong research and presentation skills

    • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with ability to exercise mature judgment

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Works under general office environment conditions
    • Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, equipment, etc.
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under the ADA

    • Requires occasional early morning or late evening teleconferences
    • International and domestic travel as required
