    Cook MyoSite Incorporated, a division of Cook Incorporated, is a growing, forward-thinking biotechnology organization seeking a full time Environmental Health & Safety Specialist. The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at Cook Myosite Inc. will represent the organization in safety and health issues by developing, enhancing, managing, and auditing a site safety program while providing staff safety and health engineering services.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide guidance to employees so that they understand the safety and health programs and how to implement them
    • Identify and evaluate high risk hazards and develop measures for their control
    • Provide staff safety, biosafety,and health engineering services
    • Maintain a working knowledge and maintain federal, state and local relationships with appropriate regulatory agencies
    • Develop and maintain a high level of professional competence in the safety and health field
    • Represent the organization in safety and health interests outside their operations within the community and by active participation in professional societies and specific trade associations and groups
    • Develop and maintain a site specific Lockout/Tagout program
    • Maintain Material Data Sheets for all exposures at Cook MyoSite Inc.
    • Establish and maintain Safe Job Procedures, including working in sub-zero atmospheres
    • Identify, label, and maintain all confined spaces, and develop procedures for entry
    • Establish Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and maintain inventory and distribution

    • Develop and maintain injury reporting procedures,  including documenting near miss incidents with investigations and corrective actions 
    • Analyze facility for NFPA 70E requirements, including arc-flash and fire prevention training and identification
    • Manage hot-work permitting and atmospheric monitoring conditions
    • Manage mobile equipment and routine safety inspections
    • Identify and analyze all areas for fall protection and develop fall protection solutions
    • Perform various safety training classes for new and current employees
    • Lead hazardous material certifications, training, and first responders 
    • Develop evacuation procedures and maps for emergency situations, including fire, severe weather, armed intrusion, and all potential unplanned emergency encounters
    • Identify and enhance ergonomic improvements
    • Conduct and lead investigations of work related injuries and concerns
    • Develop, enhance, manage, and audit a site safety program for Cook Myosite Inc. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in safety, health, and environmental applied sciences
    • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Proficient knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEP, CDC and ISO standards

    • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, heath care, or bio/pharmaceutical environment
    • Clean room environment/GMP experience is preferred, but not required
    • BioSafety experience preferred

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to sit at desk, in meetings and/or work on a computer, physically capable of standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, twisting and bending
    • Majority of some days spent on feet in warehouse setting
    • Frequent climbing a mobile ladder and/or other types of ladders
    • Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds
    • Must be able to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended work hours and/or extra work hours, sometimes on short notice as required

    • Must perform PPE gowning procedures on a daily basis to enter BioSafety Level II including safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, specialized clothing including laboratory scrubs (pants and shirt) and appropriate shoes required in most areas associated with this position
    • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or harsh disinfectants while in BioSafety Level II
    • Ability to work under specific time constraints
    • Laboratory, warehouse and office setting
