Overview

Cook MyoSite Incorporated, a division of Cook Incorporated, is a growing, forward-thinking biotechnology organization seeking a full time Plant Manager to join our team.  The Plant Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of Cook MyoSite. The role provides daily leadership to the company’s Purchasing, Materials, Production, and Distribution operations, operational project planning, fulfillment of GMP development and production orders as well as other support functions in compliance with applicable GMP regulations. The Plant Manager also works collaboratively with the Global Business Unit and Quality to scope, plan, and execute new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

Operational and Financial Performance

• Direct and manage plant operations for procurement, receiving, materials management, production, product inventory, and shipping

• Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.

• Develop and control profits, plans, and budget in conjunction with/supervision from Director of Operations

• Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries

• Establish key metrics to monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards

• Control and minimize labor overtime, shipping and maintenance expenses

• Coordinate with Engineering to maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary

• Incorporates facility organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel

• Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety to implement and maintain a safety environment in compliance with applicable Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations

• Works with department managers to ensure that every step of the manufacturing process is followed meticulously and effectively

• Manages the end to end manufacturing process by maximizing production, minimizing risk, and responding to strategy or market changes effectively and efficiently

• Actively looks for opportunities to improve cost, quality, and throughput
• Builds comprehensive financial reports

• Motivates and inspires employees to perform to their best abilities

• Provides tools and training necessary to make processes flow smoothly and effectively

• Offers feedback and encouragement to employees

• Identifies potential problems and create solutions before they occur

• Tracks and measures staff performance

• Optimizes processes and ensures sufficient controls and measures for process consistency

• Ensures that staff adheres to all policies and practices established by the organization and government regulations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Operations Management, or related field, and at least 5 years of experience managing regulated operations is required

• Functional knowledge of: GMP operations, cell culture materials, processes and technology, general pharmaceutical sciences, U.S. FDA Regulations: 21CFR Part 210, 211, 820, and 1271

• Results and action orientation, with strong metrics analysis abilities

• Good understanding of the business and the ability to incorporate a strategic vision into a tactical application

• Self-reliant in determining priorities and setting schedule to meet goals and objectives

• Good negotiation skills

• Previous senior leadership decision making

 

Physical Requirements:

• General office, warehouse and laboratory setting

• Ability to conduct and hear ordinary conversation and telephone communication
• Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing steps and ladders, reaching, twisting and bending on occasion with or without reasonable accommodations

• Visual and manual acuity for working with computers and equipment

• Must be able to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended work hours and/or extra work hours, sometimes on short notice as required
• Ability to work under specific time constraints
