Overview

The Research and Development Engineering Specialist supports the research, development, and process development of novel medical devices for the new iMRI

Division, working within an interdisciplinary team of engineers, specialists, and with other business functions across the organization, to advance the

strategic goals of the company.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, produce, organize, and maintain documentation,

systems, devices, fixtures, or equipment critical to the function of the

engineering team

• Use independent judgment to make decisions on significant technical and

project issues

• Run short-term, long-term, and/or system- or design-focused projects, or

complete significant tasks critical to project completion

• Possess and demonstrate expert skill in using, teaching, and

troubleshooting Cook procedural and operational systems

• Possess and demonstrate relevant fabrication techniques (e.g., tipping,

bonding, assembly, prototyping, testing) as applicable to the role

• Generate accurate documentation of concepts, prototypes, drawings,

protocols, and testing consistent with Cook's QMS and applicable

regulations

• Serve as a mentor, trainer, and resource to the department

• Identify ways to improve processes/systems and avoid historical mistakes

• Implement policies, programs, and directives of management • Prioritize work based on assigned goals • Work and interact effectively and professionally across all levels of the global organization • Maintain and expand knowledge related to the team's focus and relevant company systems • Maintain company quality standards • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and excellent problem-solving skills • Work effectively in both collaborative and independent environments with minimal supervision • Remain calm and receptive in fast-paced situations • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and maintain regular and punctual attendance • Perform other duties as necessary • Read and understand product drawings, BOMs, etc

Qualifications

• AS or BS degree in relevant field; or 2 years of experience that relates

directly to the above essential job functions/duties

• Experience working independently and with minimal supervision

• Must be able to multi-task, be adaptable, and team oriented.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (e.g., Word, Excel) and

ability to learn new software applications

• Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, lab coat, gloves) required

in most areas associated with this position

• Sitting for extended periods; close visual acuity for computer work

• Works partially under general office environmental conditions, with

exposure to shop/lab environments as applicable • Moderate to occasionally loud noise exposure • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to grasp/carry/feel/touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
