Overview

The Tool Room Group Leader leads a group of 20 or less employees within the Tool Room. Provides input to supervisor regarding employees’ performance and assists supervisor in identifying and resolving problems that effect productivity. Organizes the groups work and ensures that proper materials, tools and written instructions are available. Monitors groups’ compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Aids in the assistance of operation per leadership directives, assigning work, ordering materials, coordinating tasks between tool makers, identify improvement opportunities, and assist in the development and evaluation of tool room employees.

• Verify work for compliance to prints and specifications

• Attends meetings to discuss current and future state of business practices with a focus on continuous improvement. Maintain a clean work area and assist in cleaning common areas of the shop.

• Machine tooling and components to meet tooling work order requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Verify work for compliance to prints and specifications. Manual or computer-controlled machining methods are used.

• Working with internal and external resources to execute repairs

• Review and mark up drawings to reflect as built dimensions

• Maintain a clean work area and assist in cleaning common areas of the shop

• Operate standard manual machining equipment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Tool & Die certification from accredited school preferred
• 3+ years of related work experience either with mold maintenance or in a machining environment is preferred
• Mechanical aptitude required
• Ability to read tooling prints
• Basic computer skills
• Strong hand to eye coordination

• 1- 2 years leading/supervising teams. 

• General machining principles preferred

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills preferred
• CNC programming / machining capabilities preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Stand or sit (stationary position)

• Use hands/fingers to handle or feel (operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position)
