Overview

MED Institute is currently accepting applications for a Research Engineering position. This position is responsible for conducting Computational Modeling and Simulation (CM&S), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other advanced engineering analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Understand client expectations while driving toward scientific excellence.
  • Interact with management, technical leadership and clients to plan, complete, analyze and report results of experiments, tests, prototype development, literature reviews, etc.
  • Assure that project deliverables and tasks are technically excellent and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Assure that appropriate documentation is kept detailing project history (reports, laboratory notebooks, invention disclosures, scientific literature, meeting notes, deliverables, etc.).
  • Maintain and develop the technical capabilities necessary to provide technical solutions to clients.
  • Understand the intellectual property process and how it is established, harvested, characterized, and protected.

 

Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering or comparable background.
  • Previous industrial experience (outside of academia) is also highly desirable.
  • Knowledge or professional experience with evaluating nitinol medical devices.
  • Knowledge or professional experience in applying computational methods to model the response of devices implanted in the body.
  • Knowledge or professional experience using COMSOL Multi-physics and/or ABAQUS.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, record-keeping and interpersonal skills is needed.
  • Ability to find solutions to technical problems with an eye toward providing practical solutions in a timely manner.
  • Will be working in a team setting and must be willing to be trained.  
  • Strong hands on skills and mechanical abilities.
  • Ability to remain professional and positive in all personal interactions, provide an example of good work ethic, a willingness to help, and personal discipline in achieving goals.
  • Experience with nonlinear structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics, fluid structure interactions, and coupled multi-physics analyses is preferred.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. MED Institute does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN) for this employment position.
