The Histology 1 position at Cook Research Inc. is responsible for histologic processing of specimens under supervision to support Nonclinical Testing projects.
• Perform histology tasks, such as tissue collection, fixation, trimming, sectioning, and staining, following protocols and laboratory SOPs in support of animal studies in compliance with GLP regulations;
• Collect, format, and analyze data using good documentation practice, and summarize the data using tables and graphs for study reports;
• Work closely with study directors, veterinary pathologists and other laboratory staff;
• Scan digital images of histology slides and format the images for inclusion with study reports;
• Measure anatomical features of scanned slides using imaging software;
• Communicate with offsite testing labs and personnel (e.g., pathologist) to track sample shipment and receipt, schedule and track report preparation and provide support for remote animal studies;
• Prepare, track, and properly dispose of chemical reagents following SDS precautions and chemical safety;
• Safely handle potentially biohazardous materials;
• Order and inventory histology laboratory supplies;
• Maintain a clean laboratory space and histology equipment; and
• Revise and edit data forms and SOPs as required.
• BS in Life Sciences, Veterinary Technology, or Animal Science preferred, or experience of such kind and amount as to provide comparable background;
• Relevant experience with histology and Good Laboratory Practice preferred but not required;
• Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously in a team environment;
• Experience with laboratory maintenance and chemical safety; and
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Cook does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
