This position is a 12-week paid internship located in Bloomington, Indiana. It is offered for a period extending from mid-May through mid-August (exact dates depend on school calendars.) This position includes 401(k) options, an assigned mentor, capstone presentation, and intern events. If working onsite, you will also have access to a fitness center, an onsite cafeteria option, and a one-time housing stipend. All internships provide hands-on experience with meaningful projects in the Medical Device Manufacturing Industry.
• Gain a first-hand understanding of the department(s)' operational state to support internal processes and resource allocation.
• Support compliance with internal procedures and assist in ensuring adherence to industry regulations (FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485).
• Use data to help improve schedule and coordinate workflow within or between manufacturing departments to ensure timely production and delivery standards are met.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to analyze personnel, equipment, space, processes, and material needs, and offer recommendations for improvements.
• Provide assistance in staff training and development, ensuring clarity in policies, procedures, and internal/external guidelines.
• Monitor and update work order statuses, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Assist in producing project deliverables and documentation, leveraging engineering/supply chain/operations knowledge where applicable.
• Maintain a focus on safety and quality standards, ensuring adherence to company guidelines.
• Regularly interact with department managers to align with global business objectives and address areas for improvement.
• Assist in maintaining and ensuring that training requirements for the position are met.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration across different levels of the organization.
• Handle fast-paced situations calmly and professionally, providing support as needed.
• All candidates should have an interest in a career in the Life Sciences field, a willingness to take initiative, and an ability to work well with others
• Candidates should be students entering their Junior or Senior year the following fall semester or entering graduate school; candidates who graduate the spring semester before this internship are also eligible
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred
• All candidates must provide proof of enrollment (including pre-registration certification for the following fall) for consideration
