Overview

Cook MyoSite Incorporated, a division of Cook Incorporated, is a growing, forward-thinking biotechnology organization native to the greater Pittsburgh area.  We are seeking an individual that can bridge our life science business processes with emerging automated technologies. This role will help maintain new and existing databases, while having a unique opportunity to develop and grow the analytics and business intelligence division of the company. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance and maintain various SQL Server databases
  • Document best practices for database maintenance, backup and restore, performance tuning and access control
  • Ensure data integrity and help to maintain and manage current data structures
  • Extract, Transform and Load data into new data structures
  • Develop ad-hoc reports using advanced SQL queries
  • Perform functional testing and document system design requirements
  • Propose new data pipeline and business process enhancements

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in a computer systems related discipline (computer science, information systems, information science), life sciences or engineering; or consummate experience to provide a comparable background
  • High attention to detail and proper work documentation
  • Experience in managing relational databases
  • Programming experience in SQL and proficient in at least one software language
  • Experience in ETL tools
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well with, and understand the needs of, end users, system owners, managers, quality and software developers

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in configuring Microsoft SQL Server high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience developing ETL solutions with Microsoft SSIS
  • Experience developing reports with Microsoft SSRS
  • Experience in data modeling or advanced data warehousing
  • Experience in reporting applications or Business Intelligence (BI) tools
  • Background or knowledge of statistics and machine learning principles
  • Experience in working with Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts
  • Understanind of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software best practices
  • Experience working with ISPE GAMP 5 and GxP
  • Technical background and familiarity with life sciences; or Life Science background with superior technical skills
  • 2+ years related experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with Computer Software Validation methodologies
