Overview

The Tool and Die Technician at Cook Polymer Technology will plan, machine, assemble, and measure tooling detailed on work orders to fabricate jigs, fixtures and custom tooling to support manufacturing plastic medical device components. Meet tight tolerance drawing requirements through selection of proper processes based on material and subsequent process requirements. Adjust existing tooling and drawings to address manufacturing issues. Maintain tools and equipment for production ready. 

Responsibilities

• Machine tooling and components to meet tooling work order requirements in a safe and efficient manner

• Verify work for compliance to prints and specifications

• Manual or computer-controlled machining methods are used

• Minor mold repair through replacing and verifying tooling components

• Working with internal and external resources to execute repairs

• Provide troubleshooting assistance on various production issues associated with tooling or fixtures

• Review and mark up drawings to reflect as built dimensions

• Maintain a clean work area and assist in cleaning common areas of the shop

• Operate standard manual machining equipment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Tool & Die certification from accredited school preferred
• 3+ years of related work experience either with mold maintenance or in a machining environment is preferred
• Mechanical aptitude required
• Ability to read tooling prints
• Basic computer skills
• Strong hand to eye coordination

• General machining principles preferred

• General machining principles preferred

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills preferred
• CNC programming / machining capabilities preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
