Accountant

Under general supervision and following specific instructions and well-defined procedures handles multiple tasks related to cost accounting, general accounting, accounts payable, invoicing & collection, payroll, inventory reconciliation, capital investment projects, 1099, sales and use tax reporting, month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting & analysis and forecasting process.

• Provide financial analysis and assistance to the Accounting Manager through an in-depth understanding of GAAP, company accounting policies, practices, and business operations
• Utilize large data sets and visual analytics to identify emerging trends and key performance indicators
• Gather and compile cost information from labor data, vendor quotes, and current raw material prices
• Provide assistance in the implementation of cost management processes and use of appropriate costing methodologies to determine and report costs of goods sold, inventory and labor usage
• Assist in reviewing, analyzing and establishing standard labor and overhead rates
• Perform regular labor and overhead productivity analysis including root cause and counter measure support for negative variances
• Assist in updating monthly forecast and annual plan
• Manage intercompany transactions and netting
• Support operations in inventory management and controls including cycle counting
• Monitor and close capital investment projects
• Weekly check-runs for accounts payable
• Invoicing and collection
• Month-end and year-end closing
• Manage accruals and prepaid expenses
• Manage 1099, Sales and Use Tax Reporting
• Manage inventory reconciliation and Capital Investment Projects
• Process biweekly payroll
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, identifying and implementing process improvements as needed
• Collaborate with various departments by understanding their current and planned activities to support month end close and forecast cycles
• Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management including special projects and/or ad hoc analysis

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
• Financial reporting and analysis is a must
• Working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
• Minimum 3 years of experience handling multitasks related to cost accounting, general accounting, and/or financial reporting & analysis
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing industry

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced Skills in MS Excel
• Working with large data sets/variables in finance-based systems (i.e. Navision, SAP, Oracle Hyperion)
• Experience driving decision support through visual analytic
• Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Detailed oriented and comfortable working with large data sets
• Good communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
