The Business Continuity Program Manager at Cook Group maintains ownership of the organization’s business continuity program and strategy. He/she leads the implementation of pragmatic capabilities to meet management-approved response and recovery objectives; collaborates with key business and technology leaders globally to develop business continuity standards and action plans; and directs all business continuity management activities and tasks to provide for the availability of business activities, resources (including but not limited to information technology) and communications capabilities and information. The individual will ensure that the organization complies with existing laws and regulations (at the international, national/country, regional, and state level), as well as contractual obligations and internal expectations. He/she will provide professional, specialized skills in support of business continuity management activities, including business continuity project management and problem analysis/resolution.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally to resolve business issues related to response and recovery planning, including plan development and continual improvement.
• Capitalize on business opportunities to refine processes and technologies to mitigate exposure to disruption, as well as during disruptions of service.
• Ensure core process business continuity strategies, plans and staff are in a constant state of readiness.
• Provide business continuity management leadership and expertise to the organization globally.
• Define and maintain the ongoing business continuity management program structure, planning tools, maintenance and milestone expectations, and the timelines and activities required to expand, improve, and maintain the business continuity program.
• Ensure that appropriate business areas are considered for inclusion within the business continuity program.
• Ensure all business continuity management efforts are performed consistent with internal policy and ISO 22301.
• Charter a program steering committee and perform periodic management reviews.
• Lead all business continuity management review efforts and present program readiness information to executive management on a recurring basis based on sponsor-approved metrics.
• Coordinate the corrective / preventative actions processes.
• Coordinate and perform budget management and reporting.
• Facilitate the identification of response and recovery objectives, as well as risk treatment priorities; identify opportunities to refine day-to-day business processes and technologies to mitigate business continuity risk.
• Validate that response and recovery objectives align with the organization’s business strategy and goals.
• Facilitate the development, documentation, and implementation of strategies to effectively recover critical business processes and technologies associated with key products and services; seek approval for resources to implement and maintain essential risk management capabilities.
• Maintain knowledge of governance processes and policy formation; of management system concepts, with particular emphasis on ISO 22301; strong working knowledge of business continuity best practices.

• Translate business continuity concepts and processes to enable business needs and requirements; function as a consultant to business and technology management regarding business continuity matters.
• Conduct awareness training for key program stakeholders, including but not limited to the planning, facilitating of, and reporting on recurring exercises.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery plan owners with issues related to implementation and maintenance of analysis and plan documents.
• Manage and mentor subordinate staff.
• Manage the development and maintenance of the organization’s crisis management and crisis communications plans.
• Coordinate crisis management efforts from onset through resolution.
• Participate in the coordination of third-party involvement during crises and disruptive events.
• Select, implement, manage, and maintain business continuity-related technologies.
• Evaluate and assess potential disruptive events and determine the need to escalate the event to management and/or a member of the crisis management team.
• Participate in after-action review activities, and take corrective action as warranted.
• Manage the corrective actions repository and engage the program steering committee to prioritize remediation.
• Coordinate with Ethics & Compliance to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

 

A successful candidate in this job will:

Qualifications

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in business management, risk management, or a related field
• 10+ years of business continuity/disaster recovery/crisis management work experience leading to strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• 2+ additional years of project management or other leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders
• Strong oral and written communication and collaboration including listening
• Expert at facilitating engaging meetings with program stakeholders and influencing others toward effective outcomes
• Thorough understanding of compliance/regulatory requirements and initiatives
• Broad technology knowledge and understanding specific to infrastructure and operations
• Influential leadership and management ability

Preferred:
• Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI), Associate Member of The Business Continuity Institute (AMCBI), Member of The Business Continuity Institute (MBCI), Fellow of The Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) or equivalent certification
• Experience in the medical device, life sciences, or biotech industries

 

Physical Requirements:

• General office environment
• Close visual acuity for working with computers
• Minimal overnight travel (<5%); mostly day travel to other company sites
• Perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under the ADA
