This position is a 12-week paid internship located in Bloomington, Spencer, or Ellettsville Indiana. It is offered for a period extending from mid-May through mid-August (exact dates depend on school calendars.) This position includes 401(k) options, an assigned mentor, capstone presentation, and intern events. If working onsite, you will also have access to a fitness center, an onsite cafeteria option, and a one-time housing stipend. All internships provide hands-on experience with meaningful projects in the Medical Device Manufacturing Industry.




To support the Communications team at Park48 and members of the Executive and Functional communicators in advancing employee engagement efforts and relationships with Cook Medical leadership.



  • To provide future communicators with hands-on experience at a global company
  • Learning the ins and outs of utilizing a brand and voice to convey important messages to employees
  • Understanding the importance of different communication methods in relaying information in an effective way

Job Functions:

  • Draft and edit communications around functional and/or entity level updates and support Cook’s involvement in local community events
  • Update content on various communication channels to keep employees informed and engaged
  • Perform other administrative duties in support of training initiatives related to SharePoint and Staffbase
  • Support large reoccurring meetings with your mentor and other members of the Executive and Functional Communications team, such as Cook Medical Leadership, Cook Medical Executive, Site-Lead, and Executive Response Team

Potential Projects:

  • Creating ever-green deliverables for all local sites involving departments/teams such as Human Resources, DEI, Marketing, Cook Clinic, Continuous Improvement, and Ethics & Compliance. This includes digital scalas, print signage at Park 48, and other means of on-site promotion of Cook initiatives.
  • Develop an internal content calendar that organizes communications campaigns across multiple facets of the organization, then test and optimize internal channels to improve the employee experience through communication.


• All candidates should have an interest in a career in the Life Sciences field, a willingness to take initiative, and an ability to         work well with others

• Candidates should be students entering their Junior or Senior year the following fall semester or entering graduate school;         candidates who graduate the spring semester before this internship are also eligible

• A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred

• All candidates must provide proof of enrollment (including pre-registration certification for the following fall) for consideration

• Multiple disciplines will be considered (e.g.Life Sciences, General Business, and Management) 

• Prior work/volunteer experience with communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A self-starter, but not afraid to ask questions.

• Capabilities in Microsoft 365. Experience with SharePoint and OneDrive is a plus
