The Internal Communications (IC) Specialist role is responsible for creating and implementing internal/employee communications content and contributing to programs that actively engage internal audiences on an organization-wide basis. The IC Specialist predominantly supports the OD portfolio of projects and initiatives by working closely and in collaboration with other members of the OD team, primarily the OD Program Manager and Director of Organizational Development, leading internal, enterprise-wide communications, increasing employee awareness, engagement, and adoption through clear, targeted and appropriately scaled communications. Based on the organization’s communications needs, and as approved and assigned by OD Leadership, the Internal Communications Specialist also functions, from time to time, as a shared communications resource for Executive Leadership, other functional areas, and organization-wide programs and initiatives that impact Cook MyoSite staff.

 

Responsibilities

• Create, establish and document best practices, protocols and templates for the internal communications practice area
• Create ideas and make sound recommendations for new and creative ways to communicate to various levels of staff on OD related topics
• Create, and execute communication plans in support of OD organizational changes, projects, and programs
• Employ best practices to develop engaging messages, clear, effective communications, and brand/culture-appropriate content for internal audiences.
• Responsible for researching, writing, and editing various business communication pieces, such as presentations, emails, blogs, etc.
• Understand and be able to interpret the strategy behind each communication and balance that with what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it.
• Work with business partners to develop and implement communications plans, including strategies, timelines, and tools
• Facilitate strong, collaborative relationships to successfully deliver on enterprise-wide efforts and local communications strategies
• Develop solid, compelling content strategy for internal social media (e.g., Microsoft Teams, blogs)
• Develop, implement, and maintain communications channels for employees, draft and/or edit messaging as required, providing context, clarity, consistency, and appropriate tone, and create linkages to the company's strategic      priorities
• Create, contribute, edit, and manage internal communications for overall consistency of corporate messages
• Work closely with all internal functions to ensure alignment on all internal messages, consider the impact on all audiences, and safeguard the company's reputation
• Develop change management communication strategies based on understanding the details of the organization and the groups (stakeholders) being impacted
• Gain trust by demonstrating expertise and understanding of key concepts with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure strong, productive working relationships.
• Ability to work closely with Company’s executive leadership to support, guide or craft their internal messaging for various internal audiences and venues (ex. Staff meetings, crisis management, major company-wide         

   communications, etc.)
• Align communication messaging with plans developed using ADKAR OCM Communications methodology as the company’s preferred and authorized communications planning tool.
• Work collaboratively, and in tandem, both supporting and contributing expertise to communications planning with the Company’s designated Change Practitioners, under the governance of the OD’s Change Management practices. (Also responsible for setting and upholding these standards)

Qualifications

• Minimally, an undergraduate degree in Journalism, Writing, Communications, PR or related field and/or 5+ years direct, relevant experience in communications to provide a comparable background

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience developing and implementing internal communications strategies, programs, and initiatives, either independently or with minimal supervision.

• Uses advanced analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills to adapt policies and programs and develop models to support mid-sized to large programs / projects.

• Must be able to sit at desk, in meetings and/or work on a computer for long or extended periods of time.
• Visual and manual acuity for working with computers and equipment.

 

• Full Time Remote

• Remote / Field Based: General office or home office setting. May be required to work onsite from time to time based upon business needs, including activities, events and internal meetings scheduled.
