The Nonclinical Testing Scientist at Cook Research Incorporated is responsible for assisting in the planning, conduct, and reporting of nonclinical animal studies.
• Design animal studies for the evaluation of medical devices
• Assist in preparing submissions to institutional animal care and use committees (IACUCs) for approval to perform procedures
• Create study protocols following content and formatting requirements
• Determine timelines, tasks, and resource requirements for testing projects based on the study design and protocol
• Coordinate functions of Cook Research and off-site personnel for execution of animal studies
• Assist with surgical and interventional procedures as needed
• Assist with animal necropsies and tissue collection as needed
• Assist with data collection and computer data entry
• Perform data analyses and prepare tables and graphs for study reports
• Draft reports and summaries for animal studies
• Perform general laboratory tasks as required, in support of animal studies
• Communicate study results with management, engineers, and regulatory scientists
• Provide training and support for off-site personnel regarding Cook Research procedures
• PhD, Masters degree or previous experience with nonclinical animal testing preferred
• Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities along with fluctuations in workload
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment, both motivating team members and appreciating their individual expertise
• Ability to work within strict time constraints
• Good analytical skills and experience with spreadsheets
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Cook does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position
Physical Requirements:
• Willingness to travel within the US for the conduct of testing at off-site facilities
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
