Research Scientist

The Research Scientist will be responsible for designing, managing, and conducting laboratory investigations supporting the development of cell and regenerative products.  The scope of research and development projects will include biologics, cell and gene therapeutics, and extra-cellular matrices for treating acute and chronic diseases.  The position will be a client focused scientist who will design, manage, and conduct research and development activities for MED Institute, Inc. and our clients, driving innovation with strong scientific principles and high standards of integrity and quality.

• Understand client expectations while driving toward scientific excellence;
• Interact with management, technical leadership, and clients to plan, complete, analyze and report results of experiments, tests, and literature reviews;
• Perform general lab tasks as required, including routine maintenance and ordering of supplies;
• Culture and maintain a variety of primary mammalian cell types and laboratory cell lines;
• Develop and execute cell-based and other multi-well format assays;
• Maintain and develop technical capabilities necessary to provide technical solutions to clients;
• Provide scientific direction for project teams regarding the evaluation or handling of devices, drugs, or cells for in vitro and in vivo disease models;
• Troubleshoot cell and molecular biological issues, analyze, and interpret results; and
• Write and maintain project documentation, technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

• PhD and preferably postdoctoral experience in cell biology, immunology, bio-med. engineering or closely related scientific field, or equivalent combination of degrees and experience;
• This position requires a self-directed individual with deep training and experience in cell and molecular biology, with the ability to drive client sponsored projects to successful completion;
• Demonstrated experience and highly competent with standard cell and molecular methods;
• Background in immunology with in-depth understanding of tumor biology and immune cell biology desirable;
• Experience in translational research, GLP studies, clinical cell processing, process or analytical development, or cGMP manufacturing of cellular therapies is desirable;
• Proven ability to innovate in the development of novel concepts and creating solutions to technical problems with an eye toward providing practical solutions in a timely manner;
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate the completion of deliverables and tasks; and
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and team orientation.
